Williams Sonoma - Horrible experience returning gifts
I bought gifts at William Sonoma before Christmas that did not work out. I tried to return them and was told I would not get a refund or even a gift certificate for the amount.
I was forced to pick something out for $200 that I didn't need or take back the original merchandise. I took an appliance that was worth $9 more than my returned goods and gave them a $10 certificate issued by the store. They didn't take it and made me pay $28 more!
I wrote an email to their customer service and they never even responded! This is a company that treats customers worse than Costco or Target!!

What's the rest of the story? You didn't have your sales receipt, did you.
You neglected to mention that fact - instead, painted yourself the victim.
They did you a courtesy - according
To their posted return policy, they could've just sent you on your way bc you didn't have your receipt - but they made an exception for you and evidently that wasn't good enough. Next time, keep your receipt!
Yep, sounds like this customer definitely did not have their receipt. The store can search for it using credit card or email address - so the customer probably paid cash and didn't give email address OR save their receipt.
WS gives gift receipts ESP during the holiday season - not sure why the reviewer is making such a fuss.
Why do people think that they can walk product back into a store and get money for it? Crazy!
Lot of assumptions here. Except that WS did not exhibit good customer service.
Other stores will check on the lowest price paid for an item and offer that price. And why didnโt they take their own $10 certificate?
I canโt imagine why an uninterested party would reply as you did.
